Cornerstone Therapies
Traditional Tibetan/Bhutanese Medicinal Formulas
Drawing from an extensive pharmacopeia of herbs and natural remedies, we offer time-tested formulas designed to restore balance and alleviate illness.*
These gentle, yet effective, remedies work gradually to address the root causes of your inner imbalances, without harmful side effects.*
Medicinal Baths
These medicinal baths, gLums, are unlike any you've experienced before. They consist of a carefully crafted, time-tested formula containing up to 100 different natural ingredients—herbs, minerals, salts, and more—that are gently boiled in water to fully extract their nutritive and healing properties. The resulting potent liquid is then mixed into a bathtub of hot water, creating a powerful therapeutic experience.
-
It’s important to note that the effects of this bath are extraordinarily powerful, often intense, and can feel overwhelming at first. The medicinal liquid is rapidly absorbed through the skin (transdermally), entering the bloodstream and circulating throughout the body. This process opens and expands all bodily channels—venous, arterial, lymphatic, energetic, microcirculatory—both inter-organ (between organs) and intra-organ (inside organs).*
The bath helps to "release" blockages, stimulate circulation, and promote the flow of rejuvenating blood infused with healing herbs. As a result, stiff fascia, muscles, and tissues are softened, making the body more pliable. Nerve endings are soothed, and overall tension is released, promoting deep relaxation and rejuvenation.*
For those seeking weight loss benefits, these baths are typically scheduled every two days, with the duration increasing gradually as the patient’s tolerance builds. These baths are essential part of a full treatment plan, for the overweight, we estimate 10-15kg weight loss with fat percentage decrease and no corresponding muscle loss.*
Tibetan Medicinal Massage
The Tibetan Medicinal Massage, or Kunye, is a cornerstone of our holistic treatment approach and is administered to all patients. This therapeutic practice is not only integral to the healing process but also stands apart for its unique depth & efficacy, stemming from the expertise of Dr. Phuntsoq and the skill of our practitioners.
-
All of our massage therapists are fully qualified Menpas, or Tibetan Medicine Doctors, having graduated from the esteemed Shang Shung School of Tibetan Medicine. This distinction is crucial, as we feel the knowledge and skill of a Shang Shung-trained therapist far surpass those of less experienced practitioners, ensuring that each session offers profound therapeutic benefits.*
Our approach to Kunye is rooted in an intricate understanding of Tibetan medicine, particularly the subtle energy systems that govern the body. This system incorporates a profound awareness of the tantric energetic body, encompassing the five chakras, the three primary channels, and the numerous subsidiary channels through which life energy, or prana, flows. These channels form the subtle matrix upon which the physical body develops and functions.*
The principles behind our Kunye massage are derived from advanced esoteric practices within Vajrayana Buddhism, specifically its yogic traditions. Just as Yogis in remote mountain retreats use Kunye to maintain their physical and energetic balance amidst harsh conditions, so too does this practice serve to support the body’s health and vitality, preventing imbalances and disease.*
Kunye is not simply a form of physical therapy; it is a holistic treatment that engages both body and spirit, promoting harmony, strength, and resilience.*

Tibetan Longevity Yoga & Meditation
In Tibetan tradition, the mind is likened to a rider upon a horse—rlhung (wind or breath) being the “horse” that carries the rider along the pathways of the body’s energetic channels. When the mind is wild and unfocused, the rider has no control over the horse, leading to confusion and suffering. Tibetan Longevity Yoga seeks to tame this “horse” of energy and breath, allowing the mind to experience greater clarity, ease, and spaciousness. By mastering the flow of breath and energy, we create the conditions for mental and physical wellness to arise naturally.*
